It is about a 20-minute walk from the train station.
However, if you are carrying heavy bags, it may be easier to book a cab to meet you on arrival (e.g Streamline 01904 65 65 65), get a taxi from the station rank or hop on the No. 13 or 14 bus and get off at Lowther Street.
We give a discount to those who come by public transport AND who book direct.
Yes all rooms have a private en-suite in the room with a shower. We have no bedrooms with baths.
We have a full description of the accessibility policy on our website. Our guest house was built in 1864, so there are a quite a few steps and we have no lift.

The key differences between a bed and breakfast (B&B), guest house, and a hotel lie in their size, atmosphere and facilities. B&B’s are often people’s homes and tend to have a smaller (1-3) number of rooms with guests sharing facilities and spaces alongside the owners.
Guest Houses, like ours , are also owner managed and typically larger with more facilities (e.g. we provide a guest lounge, honesty bar, a garden and have a private car park.
Hotels, on the other hand, are larger commercial establishments, often impersonal chains. They may provide added facilities such as lifts, restaurants, room service and often include a 24-hour reception.
However, our visitors find they get a more personalised welcome, access to our local knowledge on attractions and restaurants, pubs and our breakfasts are cooked using fresh local ingredients with lots of homemade items rather than mass produced.
Yes - we are members of Green Tourism and work with them to improve our green credentials. We have a green/sustainable plan on this site which highlights all the tings we do. Check it out.
