We are located just a 10-minute stroll to York Minster, the City Walls, and an array of brilliant shops and attractions.
Our 5-star accommodation has 8 stunning rooms to choose from, all of which have been beautifully refurbished to offer quality accommodation. You can choose from, double, twin, and triple rooms, plus a lavish four-poster room with an antique French oak bed. Some of the rooms also boast glorious views of York Minister or the River Foss.
We are fully licensed so you can relax & have a drink in our guest lounge or heated courtyard garden. We also have the advantage of free private parking (must be booked in advance), EV chargers, and a secure cycle locker.
We operate a quiet hour policy from 10 pm to 8 am to respect our guests' & local residents' peace. Sorry, but we do not take stag or hen party groups. In 2022 we won the prestigious York Design Award for best Commercial Design and our refurbishment was also shortlisted in the Restoration/ Conservation category and in sustainability (see sustainability).
We are committed to supporting diversity & inclusivity; we are LGBTQ+ friendly and happy to discuss accessibility needs (see accessibility). However, we do not have an elevator nor any "accessible" rooms on the lowest floor

Step into history
MonkBridge House was built in 1864 and has been the home to a number of prominent city merchants, including a fellmonger, woolstapler, coal merchant, the home of two Lord Mayors of York and the Clerk to the Guardians of the York Workhouse.
Between 1943 and 1962 it was St Mary’s Home for Girls before returning to private ownership. For the last 40 years, it has been a guest house offering elegant and inspiring rooms for visitors to York.

All eight bedrooms are en-suite and have air filtration, central heating, television, tea/coffee making facilities, USB plug sockets and free Wifi. All the rooms have all been recently refurbished. You can easily walk into the city centre and visit the many award-winning attractions such as the Jorvik Viking Centre, York Minster, The National Railway Museum, York Castle Museum and the York Chocolate Story. We are also close to the Universities and York Racecourse.

Our award-winning breakfast is cooked to order using the finest locally sourced products. We pride ourselves on providing homemade products such as jams, marmalades, granola, butter, and biscuits. If you have specific dietary needs then just let us know. With family members having allergies and intolerances we truly know the importance of carefully catering for your needs. Breakfast runs from around 8 am to 9:00 weekdays and 7:45 to 9:30 am weekends. However, if you want to go to the York Parkrun we can arrange a later breakfast.
